Hanoi (VNA) - US automaker Ford Vietnam has announced a record August performance with retail salesrising 8 percent year-over-year to 2,292 vehicles.
The EcoSport, Ranger, Transit and Explorerled the record sales month with each leading their respective segments for themonth and year-to-date.
Ford Vietnam remains on track for anotherrecord full-year performance with year-to-date sales increasing 3 percent to19,081 vehicles.
“Our showrooms across the country remainedbusy despite the retail impact typically associated with ghost month [theseventh lunar month], and our best-selling nameplates continued to drive ouroverall performance,” said Pham Van Dung, managing director, Ford Vietnam.
Ranger delivered August retail sales thatincreased 16 percent to 1,183 vehicles, as it continues to lead the country’spickup truck segment. Ranger’s year-to-date sales have risen 4 percent to 9,475vehicles.
Demand continued in August for the premiumExplorer mid-size SUV, which again led its segment for the month with retailsales of 82 vehicles. Year-to-date sales of the US-imported Explorer have nowreached 891 vehicles.

The Transit maintained its leadership ofcommercial van and bus segment in Vietnam with August retail sales of 558vehicles, driving year-to-date sales up to 4,092 vehicles.
The Everest mid-size SUV achieved Augustsales of 98 vehicles, driving its year-to-date sales to 836 vehicles. TheEcoSport compact SUV delivered August retail sales of 260 vehicles, pushing itsyear-to-date sales up to 2,658 vehicles and maintaining its segment leadership.
The sporty Focus passenger car saw its Augustsales rise 17 percent to 84 vehicles, with year-to-date sales now up 26 percentto 790 vehicles.-VNA
