The Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisations hosted an exchange with foreign diplomats in Hanoi on Feb. 3 on the occasion of the up-coming traditional new year festival.
The function was aimed at boosting friendship between Vietnam and other countries, as well as between Hanoi and cities in the world and promoting the millennium anniversary of the city.
Almost 20 foreign ambassadors, representatives of international organisations and non-governmental organisations in Vietnam attended the meeting.
Addressing the event, Ngo Thi Thanh Hang, Vice Chairwoman of Hanoi People’s Committee, expressed thanks for international supports to Vietnam in its cause of integration and development. She stressed that in 2010, Vietnam needs more supports and assistance from foreign friends to fulfil its responsibilities as ASEAN Chair.
On behalf of foreign friends, Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Fredesman Turo Gonzalez expressed his wish that Vietnam would be successful in their tasks. He congratulated Hanoi on its anniversary and said he believed the Hanoi people will build the capital into a developed and modern city.
Hosts and guests enjoyed an arts programme, including performances by Russian children in Hanoi./.
