Hanoi (VNA) – Defence ministers from Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand and the UK, gathered in Singapore on October 4-5 to discuss measures to enhance cooperation within the Five Powers Defence Arrangements (FPDA).
The annual meeting serves as a foundation for dialogue and exchange of viewpoints between the five countries, which signed the FPDA in 1971.
In an announcement issued on October 5, the Singaporean Defence Minister said ministers reaffirmed the commitment on the FPDA and highlighted the important role of the FPDA in strengthening regional security and cooperation.
Besides, the sides discussed and announced the principle of leading military exercises in the future as well as activities to boost military cooperation.-VNA
