Vientiane (VNA) –Vietnam’s Military Hospital 175 is providing free health check-ups and medicines for impoverished Lao people as part of the ongoing 2015 Vietnam-Laos trade fair in the Lao province of Champasak.

About 1,000 Lao residents are expected to receive free health check-ups and medicines during the six-day fair.

Besides, 400 gifts, each worth 1 million VND (44 USD) of units and businesses participating in the fair will be presented to Vietnamese people in the neighbouring country.

Themed “Cooperation, Friendship and Development,” the fair is jointly held by the Vietnam Ministries of National Defence, and Industry and Trade, and the Lao Ministry of Industry and Trade and Champasak provincial People’s Committee.

On display are garments-textiles, leather footwear, agro-forestry-fisheries products, handicrafts, electronics and chemicals, to name but a few, brought by nearly 100 businesses.

It is part of Vietnam’s national trade promotion programme in 2015 and one of a series of economic and political activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Lao National Day and the 71st founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army.-VNA

FLC appeal hearing postponed, giving more time for compensation

After discussions and listening to opinions from lawyers, defendants, and victims present at the trial, the judicial panel stated that postponing the appeal hearing for Trinh Van Quyet, ex-chairman of FLC Group, is necessary to ensure the rights of the victims. The postponement aims to give the defendants and their families more time to pay compensation for victims and those with related rights and obligations.
