The French Minister of Foreign Trade, Nicole Bricq will visit Vietnam from April 7-9, according to a statement released by the ministry on April 5.
The visit is part of her working tour of Southeast Asia.
The statement says Vietnam is considered a "new dragon” with an average economic growth rate of 7 percent over the last 10 years. It is also listed as one of the newly emerged economies.
However, trade exchanges between Vietnam and France have not met the expectations of the two countries. France ’s market share in Vietnam is only one percent while the figure in other ASEAN countries is 1.5 percent.
