(Photo: qdnd.vn) Hanoi (VNA) –Ambassador Nguyen Phuong Nga, President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations(VUFO), presented the insignia “For Peace and Friendship among Nations” to ItalianAmbassador to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro, during a ceremony in Hanoi on July13.
Speaking at the event,Ambassador Nga said during his tenure in Vietnam, the diplomat made numerouscontributions to bolstering bilateral collaboration relations between the twocountries in various fields, including politics, foreign affairs, economy,trade, investment, security, national defence, culture, tourism, andpeople-to-people exchanges.
Particularly, during the pandemic, he actively mobilised Italian government tosupport Vietnam with nearly 3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines through theCOVAX fund, Nga emphasised.
She said economiccooperation is a bright spot in the two countries’ relations. Despitethe global challenges, bilateral trade turnover of thetwo countries in 2022 reached the highest level ever with 6.2 billion USD, up11% compared to that 2021. The Italian government has included Vietnam in the list of20 priority countries to promote trade and investment until 2030.
Antonio Alessandro, for his part, expressed his honour toreceive the insignia, affirming that in any position in the future, he willcontinue to make contributions to further strengthen and promote the friendshiprelations and cooperation between Vietnam and Italy./.
