The Ministry of Public Health will team up with the US giant, the General Electric Group (GE) in a joint project to manufacture medical equipment in Vietnam for the domestic market.
Under a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two parties in Hanoi on August 24, the project will also help Vietnam to put together training programmes to improve the skills of Vietnamese health workers.
The MoU is part of GE’s “In Country, For Country” initiative, which aims to design specific medical equipment to satisfy the different demands in different countries.
According to Minister of Public Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien, this will help Vietnam to provide quality medical equipment to health care facilities at every level, especially in communes and districts.
The GE was one of the first US companies to enter Vietnam in 1993. It established GE Vietnam in 2003, to supply after sales services for medical and electrical equipment.-VNA
