German caravans on trial in Vietnam

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the trial circulation of caravans of more than nine seats brought into Vietnam by German tourists.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved the trial circulation ofcaravans of more than nine seats brought into Vietnam by Germantourists.

This forms part of amendments to the Government’sDecree No.152/2013/ND-CP dated November 4, 2013 on management of motorvehicles brought into Vietnam by foreign tourists.

TheGovernment leader urged the Ministry of Transport to be responsible forsupervising the trial operation of this kind of vehicle, which isorganised by the Asian Trails Co., Ltd.

Under the decree,motor vehicles brought into Vietnam by foreign tourists must be carsused to transport tourists with steering wheel on the left or beingmotorbikes.

Vehicle owners are foreign individuals ororganisations, and the number plates were registered abroad. They musthave valid certification on technical safety and environmentalprotection.-VNA

In 2025, Vietnam’s tourism sector recorded its highest-ever number of visitors, welcoming more than 21.5 million international arrivals, up more than 20% from 2024, and serving over 135.5 million domestic travellers. The sector has become a bright spot of the economy, with Vietnam ranking among the world’s fastest-growing tourism destinations.
