A get-together was organised in Hanoi on November 28 to celebrate Romania ’s 92nd National Day (Dec. 1) and the 60 th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Romania diplomatic relations.
Co-hosted by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam-Romania Friendship Association (VRFA), the function saw the attendance of VUFO Vice President Tran Dac Loi, Romanian Ambassador to Vietnam Dumitru Olaru and a number of representatives from the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
VRFA President Tong Van Nga expressed his delight at Romania ’s recent socio-economic achievements as well as its efforts to overcome the global financial crisis.
Nga noted with pleasure that bilateral relations have always been strengthened and developed over the past 60 years. He added that the Vietnamese people are grateful to Romania for its assistance and support during their past struggle for national independence and the current process of national construction, as well as in training thousands of officials for Vietnam .
The official said he hoped that the implementation of measures agreed upon at the Vietnam-Romania joint committee for economic, trade, scientific and technological cooperation would make economic and trade ties be on a par with their political and friendly relations.
VRFA will do its utmost to contribute to the enhancement of solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Romanian people, he added.
Ambassador Olaru hailed VRFA’s role as a bridge to facilitate cooperation between businesses from the two nations and organise visits to Romania for those who had studied in the European country.
The diplomat also expressed his hope that Romania-Vietnam friendly and cooperative relations would further develop in the years to come./.
