An international kite festival kicked off in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau on May 9, enchanting the public with a wide range of traditional and modern kites.
Following the opening ceremony, visitors feasted their eyes on dazzling kite performances and competitions by some 70 Vietnamese artisans and 60 others from 21 countries and territories.
From now until May 12, the biennial event will also offer a kite making course taught by experienced artisans and kite exhibitions.
Ho Van Loi, Director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that this is a good opportunity for Vietnamese kite aficionados to exchange experience with foreign ones in the art of kites, while also promoting the hospitality of Vietnam to the world.
This year’s event, themed “Flying with Vietnam”, is the fifth that Ba Ria-Vung Tau has held so far.-VNA
