Since Ca tru was recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent protection, Hanoi has made great efforts to revive this art form.
Ca tru singing was put on a list of Intangible Cultural Heritages in need of urgent safeguarding back in 2009 due to the dwindling number of people who had mastered the art.
Authorities and people of the northern province of Bac Giang have made great efforts to preserve and carry forwards the values of the art of Ca tru (ceremonial singing), aiming to removing the art from UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding.
