Hai Duong promoting model of organic rice and sand worm

Tu Ky district in the northern province of Hai Duong recently held a festival to introduce and honor the value of local organic rice being grown in sand worm fields. This is another effort to enhance the value of these products, expand their market, and promote the potential for eco-tourism development in the province.

Tu Ky’s approach to organic agriculture was praised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The ministry urged the district to maintain the production model, and at the same time, pay more attention to spreading the benefits of the farming for human health model.

Hai Duong province has developed eight key agricultural product groups, with over 300 high-quality OCOP products. The organic rice production area combined with sand worm in the province covers nearly 1,000 hectares, mostly in Tu Ky, Thanh Ha, Kim Thanh districts, and Kinh Mon town.

In 2023, the province produced some 4,400 tons of organic rice, and 814 tons of sand worms, pocketing about 12 million USD./.
