Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung has approved adjustment tasks for master planning of the northern port city of Hai Phong until 2035 with a vision to 2050.
The scale of the amendments is the whole administrative area of Hai Phong, a total area of 156,176 hectares.
The planning aims to improve the position of the city in the region and the world, making it a civilised, modern and smart port city with unique identity and development towards green growth and climate change adaption.
The city is expected to become the leading maritime economic centre of the country and a hub of service, high technology, tourism, education-training, science-technology and health care of the northern coastal region.
Major requirements of the planning’s amendments include reviewing the master planning’s contents which were approved in 2009, as well as the reality of urban development of Hai Phong, along with the review of development plans of urban areas, land stock, land use planning, the scale of functional areas and conformity with the development trends of the city.
At the same time, the assessment of the strategic environment, the response to climate change and sea level rise, as well as public transportation, urban underground spaces, lighting and decoration system is also necessary, together with proposing indications to control urban development using scientific methods.
The Hai Phong city planning evaluates social infrastructure in all fields including administration, health care, education, culture, sports, tourism and entertainment.
It also defines problems in social infrastructure system, while proposing the supplementation and upgrading of some works.
The Deputy PM requested that the planning sketch out orientations for developing urban spaces, land use planning, and directions in building technical infrastructure framework, while creating a strategic environment assessment.-VNA
