At a meeting with Vice Governor of Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin in Hanoi on August 27, Chung saidtwo-way trade between Hanoi and the Chinese locality has increased year byyear, but their cooperation in many fields has not matched both sides’ potential.
Chung expressed his hope that the Guangdong authority will create favourableconditions for Hanoi’s officials to learn from the locality’s developmentexperience, especially its success in building large-scale economy, preventingtraffic jam, and minimizing motorbikes in urban areas.
For his part, Ouyang Weimin endorsed proposals of Chairman Chung, stressing thegreat potential for the two localities to expand trade bond.
He called on the two sides to continue promoting bilateral cooperative ties inthe coming time, especially in trade, hi-technology, finance, education andhealth care.
Guangdong is the only Chinese locality that has a cooperation mechanism withministries, sectors and localities of Vietnam. In 2018, the trade turnoverbetween Vietnam and Guangdong hit 37.16 billion USD, up 34.2 percent, accountingfor 25.1 percent of the Vietnam-China trade turnover.-VNA
