Hanoi aims to become a smart and sustainable urban area in the future, which will also help fulfill some of the city’s growing demands, said Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi aimsto become a smart and sustainable urban area in the future, which will alsohelp fulfill some of the city’s growing demands, said Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Speaking at a symposium in Hanoion July 13 as part of the Industry 4.0 Summit and Exhibition, Chung said, likeother super urban areas in the world, Hanoi has faced challenges such as rapidurbanisation and migration flows, along with issues regarding planning,traffic, security, health care, education, energy, housing development, andenvironmental pollution.

A smart and sustainable urbanmodel must ensure convenience, safety, and hospitality for residents on thebasis of the application of major Industry 4.0 technologies, he said.

Amidst the robust development ofthe Fourth Industrial Revolution, it is necessary to seek suitable solutionsand policies that support the implementation of the model, he said, stressingthe important role played by human resources who are able to deal with thetrickier sides of smart urban area development.

Of note, Hanoi, as well as othercities and provinces, need to roll out plans on developing strategies ondigital television, digital connectivity infrastructure, cyber security, startupand innovation ecosystems, smart agriculture and tourism, and digital industry.

Opinions put forth at the eventon the creation, application of, and experiences in building smart cities areexpected to help Hanoi’s agencies and relevant parties complete policiespromoting the development of smart urban areas that are also suitable toVietnam’s conditions.-VNA

Ho Chi Minh City steps up law enforcement on fishing vessel monitoring system

Ho Chi Minh City has 4,449 fishing vessels, of them 4,301 equipped with VMS devices, making up 96.67%.
