Hanoi gives “artisan” title to 42 handicraft artists

Hanoi (VNA) – As many as 42 handicraft artistshave been honoured with the title of the Hanoi artisan in 2023, with a ceremonyheld at the centre of Vietnamese craft villagequintessence in Gia Lam district, home to Bat Trang Ceramic Village, onFebruary 28.

Nguyen Manh Quyen, Vice Chairman of themunicipal People’s Committee, presented the honour to the artisans at theceremony.

Tran Thi Phuong Lan, Acting Director ofthe Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade, said that the capital city has recognised319 out of 1,350 craft villages in the locality.

She commended contributions by theartisans to the preservation and development of the craft villages.

With the recognition, the artisans wouldopen craft courses, and they are exempt from taxes for vocational training, aswell as income tax when transferring creative designs to production units andindividuals.

They also can also participate in bothdomestic and international exhibitions in line with approved plans, without havingto pay any charges.

Since the municipal People’s Committeeissued regulations regarding the recognition, 290 artisans in Hanoi havereceived such title./.
