Growing clean vegetables in Dong Anh district (Photo: hanoimoi.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi has so farestablished 80 chains of safe farm produce, according to the municipalDepartment of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Of the total, there are five collectivebrands, namely Ba Vi chicken, Soc Son chicken, Son Tay chicken, Van Dinh duckand Lien Chau duck eggs.
Farm-to-fork chains with animal origin haveattracted the participation of more than 3,000 family farms and 120 businessesand individuals operating in the sectors of animal feed, medicine,slaughtering, food processing and distribution.
The department is examining 140 facilitiesto build a programme that helps trace products’ origin using QR codes.
Annual food consumption in the domestic marketaccounts for roughly 15 percent of Vietnam’s GDP, with average annual growthrate of 18 percent. As such, inadequate safety standards can inhibit thesector’s growth potential, jeopardising consumer health and reducing marketopportunities for local food producers.-VNA
