Hanoi Telecom Corp, an owner of Vietnammobile, has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister to purchase 3G broadband and network infrastructure from the faltering EVN Telecom.
EVN Telecom's entire fibre-optic infrastructure system and its other telecommunications infrastructure should be handed over to other major groups to be exploited more effectively, the company suggested in its proposal.
If approved, the deal will create more favourable conditions for Hanoi Telecom, a young telecommunications enterprise, to accelerate its development and better enhance its presence in the domestic telecommunications market which is currently dominated by MobiFone, Vinaphone and Viettel.
Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Le Nam Thang previously said that it was time to merge EVN Telecom with another State-owned network operator.
EVN Telecom, a subsidiary of the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), has been suffering considerable losses and debt due to connection fees and frequency charges./.
