Hanoi to have more waste-to-energy plant

Hanoi(VNA) – A waste treatment plant capable of generating electricity will be builtin Nam Son waste treatment complexin Hanoi’s suburban Soc Son district.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on September11 by the Hanoi Urban Environment Company (URENCO), the T&T Joint StockCompany, and three enterprises from the Republic of Korea (RoK), namelySudokwon Landfill company, the Korea Engineering Consultant Corps and theSamyoung Plant.

URENCO General Director Le Anh Tuan said the project,approved by the Hanoi Party Committee early this year, has total cost of over13.1 million USD, funded by the World Bank and the RoK’s Ministry ofEnvironment.

The construction of the facility will take 15 months.

Once completed, it is expected to produce 5MW of electricity annuallyfor 15 years.-VNA
