Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi Tourism Ao Dai (traditional long dress) Festival will take place at Thang Long Imperial Citadel in the heart of Hanoi from October 4-6, with various attractive activities, according to the municipal People’s Committee.

Specifically, an opening ceremony will be held on October 4 at the Doan Mon Square stage, with its highlight being an art programme themed “The Essence of Ao Dai”.

On October 5, women wearing the traditional Vietnamese costume will take part in a carnival and parade around the citadel.

The festival will also feature an exhibition showcasing ‘ao dai’ through various themes: ancient and contemporary ‘ao dai’ in the Vietnamese culture, the costume with international friends and tourists and in tourism activities, and a cultural and artistic space combined with performances.

On this occasion, Hanoi will hold a series of related activities, including an online challenge hosted the Hanoi Women's Union on its website and Facebook page, a design competition for young designers, and free city bus tours for visitors wearing ‘ao dai”.

The festival is one of the activities in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the capital city’s Liberation Day (October 10, 1954-2024)./.
