The Hanoi Confederation of Labour (HCL) and the Vientiane Federation of Trade Union (VFTU) have signed an agreement on their cooperation in the 2013-2018 period during a HCL delegation’s ongoing visit to Laos from May 5-12.
The agreement was inked between HCL President Tran Van Thuc and his VFTU counterpart Khamphan Khammani in the Lao capital city on May 6.
Under the document, the two sides will annually exchange delegations to share working experience and inform each other of their trade union activities.
The HTU will organise training courses for the VFTU staff every two years. The first course will be held this year for about 20 Lao officials.
The two sides will enhance their cooperation in issues of common concern to meet the demand of the international trade union movement, thus contributing to fostering the solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Hanoi and Vientiane in particular and between the two nations in general.
During their working session, Thuc and his VFTU counterpart expressed wish to further strengthen cooperation between the two trade union organisations in order to care and protect the legitimate interests of labourers.-VNA
