Hanoi (VNA) - Hanoi ranks third nationwide in terms of new-style rural area building, said Ngo Van Ngon, deputy head of the capital's coordinating office for new-style countryside development.

All the 382 communes and 18 districts in the city have satisfied new rural standards, with 188 communes earning the title “advanced new-style rural areas” and 76 being recognised as model ones.

To help effectively implement the national target programme on building new-style rural areas, each district selected one commune to pilot the programme and then replicated it in other communes, Ngon told a recent meeting held by the municipal Party Committee's Board for Information and Education, adding that developing new-style countryside is a chance for the Party and State to improve the quality of people's life.

The city has set a goal that by 2025, it will complete building new-style rural areas at the city level, with 100% of districts meeting standards of a new-style rural area, 20% of districts and 40% of communes meeting advanced standards, and 20% of communes meeting model new-style countryside standards.

Also at the event, Dao Xuan Dung, deputy head of the Board for Information and Education, said one of the key tasks in September is disseminating information about the revised Law on the Capital, which was passed by the National Assembly (NA) in June, completing the master plan of the Capital, and adjusting the city's general plan in line with the Politburo and the NA's opinions.

Focus should be placed on communications about the 55th anniversary of the implementation of late President Ho Chi Minh's testament and his passing (September 2, 1969 - 2024), thereby, affirming the eternal value of the testament as an extremely important historical document reflecting the ideology, culture, intelligence, morality and noble soul of a great man.

Attention should be paid to the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - 2024), the National Day (September 2), and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - 2024), he noted./.
