Hanoi (VNA) – Voters in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh districts contributed their opinions on a range of issues like rural construction, environmental protection and Party building during their meeting with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on October 17.

Regarding the national target programme on new-style rural area building, they expressed their concerns over the high rates of poor and near-poor households in rural localities.

They stressed the need to accelerate the application of scientific-technological advances in the farming sector while developing craft villages and creating more jobs for farmers.

The State should put forth policies to ensure output markets for agricultural products, they said, calling for more heed to environmental protection while building modern rural areas.

In reply, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong pointed to the limited budget for the work as well as the necessity to seek the best ways to make it run smoothly in the time ahead.

Mentioning the recent environmental incident caused by Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Company in central provinces, many voters said it is a must to ensure transparency for the compensation process.

The Party chief shared the voters’ opinions that environmental protection should be taken into account while licensing investment projects.

Welcoming the voters’ opinions on Party building, the leader described the fight against the degradation of political thought and morals, and corruption as a long and hard task that requires high resolve.

“This explains why the recent fourth meeting of the 12th Party Central Committee rolled out more solutions to Party building,” he said, calling on all ministries, agencies and localities to raise the highest sense of responsibility for the work.

The National Assembly’s supervision over anti-corruption is necessary, he noted.

The voters also voiced the wish that the legislature will step up its supervisory role along with ensuring people’s livelihoods and consolidating public trust.-VNA
