Hanoi (VNA) – Students at senior high schools in Hanoi will return to school from December 6 after a long period of online learning due to COVID-19 impacts.

Under a document signed by Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung on December 2, the committee agreed with the municipal Department of Education and Training's proposal to allow students in senior high schools (from 10th to 12th grades), vocational training facilities and centres for continuing education in 30 districts and wards without any new COVID-19 infections for two weeks by November 30 to resume direct learning.

Students from first to eighth grades will continue to learn online, and children at pre-school age will stay at home.

Schools are requested to implement pandemic prevention and control measures in line with guidelines given by the Departments of Health and Education and Training. Students will only attend direct classes for half a day. School canteens are not allowed to operate.

The Steering Committees on COVID-19 Prevention and Control at district, ward and town level will consider the adjustments and suspension of direct learning if necessary.

Results of the scheme will be reported to the city People’s Committee to serve as foundation for the design of a future roadmap to get students back to school in a safe manner.

Flexible combination of online and direct learning will be implemented in localities with different pandemic levels.

Earlier on November 8, the capital city allowed ninth graders in 18 districts and towns to return to schools for direct learning./.
