HCM City (VNA) – Belarusian businesses want to cooperate with Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (SAMCO) which specialises in bus manufacturing, to address public transport problems in Ho Chi Minh City, said Deputy Industry Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Ogorodnhik.
He told Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Tran Vinh Tuyen in the city on October 24 that the cooperation could cover the manufacturing of types of bus suitable with local transport features.
Belarus has strength in heavy industry, including car and bus manufacturing, the guest said.
He added that many metro lines have been launched in Belarus’s capital city of Minsk. Therefore, Belarus wants to work with Vietnamese partners, especially HCM City, in this field, while working together to develop electric vehicles to build a green and modern city.
For his part, Tuyen said HCM City heeds developing bus in order to address public transport issues and plans to replace current buses with modern, quality and environmentally friendly ones, while launching rapid and quality bus routes.
He agreed with Aleksandr Ogorodnhik’s view that Belarusian businesses can cooperate with SAMCO to produce buses exclusively for HCM City, then other cities and provinces.
The Vietnamese southern metropolis is developing metro line No. 1 linking Ben Thanh market in District 1 and Suoi Tien Tourist Park in District 9, he said, adding that other metro projects are undertaking land clearance and seeking experienced investors.
HCM City pledged to create the best possible conditions for the Belarusian side to examine investment projects in the city, he said.-VNA
