HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City wishesto share experience with Brazil’s Maranhao state in high-tech agriculture,seaport development and high technologies, said Vice Chairman of the municipalPeople’s Committee Le Thanh Liem.

At a reception for Deputy Governor of Maranhao state Carlos Brandao on October27, Liem called on the two sides’ leaders to push tourism promotion, explainingboth that HCM City and Maranhao state boast great potential for tourismdevelopment.

The official highlighted strong developments in the relationship betweenVietnam and Brazil since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1989,with two-way trade reaching 3 billion USD in 2016, 1.5 times higher than thatin 2013.

Echoing Liem’s views, Carlos Brandao said withsimilarities in culture and weather and soil conditions, HCM City and Maranhaostate have a lot of potential cooperation areas like agriculture, trade,tourism and investment.

During his stay in HCM City, Carlos Bradao is scheduled to attend theVietnam-Brazil Trade Forum co-orgagnised by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce andIndustry (VCCI)’s chapter in the city, and Maranhao state.-VNA
