Ho Chi Minh City has set developing hi-tech and support industries as the key to realising economic restructuring and growth model shift by 2015.
Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Le Manh Ha was speaking at a seminar jointly held on April 16 by the Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) and the municipal Hi-tech Park Management Board to promote investment in these industries.
The city has also set to increase export value of high technologies and hi-tech products to account for 30 percent of its GDP so it places hi-tech and support industries in the cornerstone of preferential policies offered to the engaged businesses, Ha said.
As the country’s largest economic hub, HCM City aims to increase the rate of locally-made contents in manufactured product to 25 percent by 2015 and 40 percent by 2020, and made an export value of 10 billion USD by 2015.-VNA
