HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City wishes to push up cooperationwith CityNet to strengthen connections and promote the image of the southern metropolis tonetwork members, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan has told Kim Jeong-kee, Chief Executive
Officer of the Secretariat of CityNet.

Duringhis reception on April 24 in the city, Hoan said as a member of thenetwork, HCM City has benefited a lot from programmes of CityNet - thelargest association of urban stakeholders committed to sustainabledevelopment in the Asia Pacific region.

The southern city has set up friendly relations with more than 50localities of countries around the world and organises the Ho Chi Minh CityFriendship Dialogue with the participation of mayors from morethan 50 cities worldwide every two years, he said, adding that it hopes to cooperate withCityNet to promote resources and improve the effectiveness of activities withinthe dialogue event, especially in solving challenges that urban areas are facing today.

Regarding Kim's suggestion on hosting the CityNet General CouncilMeeting in 2026, Hoan affirmed the city's capacity to hold the event. Heproposed that CityNet should carry out seminars and discussionactivities between cities on issues of concern to the parties prior tothemeeting.

Kim said that it is time for CityNet tofurther strengthen its cooperation with HCM City as well as between HCM Cityand other cities, emphasising that his working visit aims to promote collaborationbetween the network and Vietnamese members.

He said CityNet hopes HCM City to promote its role as one ofits founding members, whiled affirming that CityNetwill coordinate closely with the city when it hosts CityNet GeneralCouncil Meeting in 2026 so as to improve the efficiency of the event aswell as connect it with Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue.

Kim took the occasion to invite HCM City to attend the internationalconference on environmental protection and sustainable urban developmentorganised by CityNet in the Republic of Korea in June./.
