HCM City delegation visits Bulgaria

Hanoi (VNA) – A high-level delegation of Ho Chi Minh City led by DeputySecretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the municipalPeople's Council Nguyen Thi Le has paid a working visit to Bulgaria.

Within the visit framework, the delegation worked with agencies of the TourismMinistry of Bulgaria, the Sofia Municipal Council and the Vietnamese Embassy inBulgaria.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council Borislav Ignatov wasvery interested in the working trip of the delegation and desired to discussmany issues related to the field of architecture, planning and tourism.

The two sides also exchanged experience in waste treatment, air pollutionreduction and personal transport, mobilising resources for infrastructuredevelopment.

In the context of the bilateral relationship, Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Le expressedher hope to promote cooperation in the area of climate change adaptation,environment, urban planning and investment promotion in the near future.

During working sessions with the Tourism Ministry’s agencies, Le said she was impressedwith the effectiveness of tourism promotion, operation and tourism developmentstrategy, investment resources and achievements of the partner.

Head of the department on international cooperation and investment in tourism NikolayKostov highlighted fruitful cooperation as well as potential for tourism collaborationbetween Vietnam and Bulgaria, saying that the two countries signed a cooperationagreement in this field.

However, the number of visitors from Vietnam to Bulgaria and vice versa has notfully reflected the potential of tourism cooperation between the two countries,he added.

Chief Director of the Directorate General for Tourism Policy at the Ministry ofTourism Lilyana Arsova also expressed her hope for signing a tourismcooperation agreement with Ho Chi Minh City.

She briefed the delegation on her agency’s sustainable development strategy forthe tourism industry, which identified eight attractive cultural and historicaldestinations with over 150 works across the localities to promote tourism./.

Education ministry targets five digital technology incubators at universities

A key target under the new plan is the establishment of five digital technology incubators, or Deeptech Hubs, at universities and research institutes with strong potential. Vietnam Customs expands capacity to tackle cross-border narcotics crime

Established in November 2025, the NTC comprises six officers from the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Sub-Department specialising in surveillance, intelligence collection and information analysis. The centre is tasked with strengthening customs capacity in risk assessment and drug crime targeting, helping authorities detect and prevent illicit cross-border trafficking of narcotics and other dangerous substances at an early stage.

Vietnam steps up implementation of ethnic affairs strategy through 2030

No “blind spots” in crackdown on smuggling, counterfeit goods

In the Jan-April period, authorities nationwide uncovered and handled nearly 44,000 cases related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, while initiating 1,464 criminal cases involving 2,277 suspects, according to the National Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Commercial Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (National Steering Committee 389).

Hanoi steps up crackdown on counterfeit goods, IP infringements

The agency has set a target of increasing the number of handled cases by at least 20% compared to the same period last year between May 7 and 30. Inspection and monitoring activities will continue beyond May 30 on a regular, focused and systematic basis across the city.
