The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) on May 8 presented a “rice ATM” (rice dispenser) and 16 tonnes of the grain from the US non-government organisation (NGO) Project Vietnam Foundation (PVF) to support those in need affected by the COVID-19.

HCM City (VNA) - The Ho Chi Minh City Union of Friendship Organisations (HUFO) onMay 8 presented a “rice ATM” (rice dispenser) and 16 tonnes of the grain from theUS non-government organisation (NGO) Project Vietnam Foundation (PVF) tosupport those in need affected by the COVID-19.

The machinewas installed in Binh Hung Hoa ward in Binh Tan district - an area with a largenumber of migrant workers from other provinces.

It isexpected that after distributing the 16 tonnes of rice, the union will then coordinatewith the PVF and other sponsors to supply more to poor residents in the area.

HUFO Vice PresidentTran Hoang Khanh Van said it has worked with foreign NGOs and businesses toprovide financial assistance, medical equipment, face masks, and essential itemsto health facilities and the disadvantaged as well as general consulates aroundthe city.

It will soonpresent medical supplies to the Japanese, US, and Russian general consulates,she added./.

Hanoi waives public transport fares during Tet holiday

During the same period, the Hanoi Traffic Operation Centre, in coordination with bus operators, will also waive fares on subsidised bus services. The programme will apply to 128 subsidised routes citywide over the nine days, with passengers granted tickets according to route pricing but paying no fare.
