The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the municipal Tourism Association held a ceremony on Jan. 1 to welcome first foreign visitors to the city in 2011.
At the ceremony, leaders of the tourism sector welcomed 160 passengers of Vietnam Airlines’ VN 927 flight from Kaohsiung (Taiwan) and 300 passengers of the Cathay Pacific Airlines’ CX 767 flight from Hong Kong.
According to La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of the municipal department, this is part of a series of events to promote images of Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular as an attractive, safe and friendly destination for international visitors and overseas Vietnamese.
Vo Anh Tai, director of the travel agency Saigontourist said that his company welcomed the new year’s first foreign tourist delegation at the Noi Bai international airport in Hanoi on the same day./.
