HCM City (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City and Japan’s Kagoshima prefectureboast huge cooperation potential in tourism, food processing and high-techagricultural production, said Chairman of the municipal People’s CommitteeNguyen Thanh Phong.

Holding a reception on January 16 for Governor of Kagoshima prefecture MitazonoSatoshi, Phong hoped that both sides will develop cooperation programmes in thefields.

He hailed Kagoshima position as a gateway to connect Japan with the SoutheastAsian region and expressed his wish that enterprises and investors fromKagoshima will increase their presence in the Vietnamese southern hub with aline-up of investment projects in economy and trade, education and tourism.

He said that the moves will help promote ties between the two localities, thusconsolidating and deepening the Vietnam-Japan friendship.

For his part, Mitazono Satoshi noticed that his visit to Vietnam aims toconnect and develop ties with Vietnamese localities, particularly Ho Chi MinhCity.

He expected that Ho Chi Minh City leaders will create favourable conditions forKagoshima firms to promote trade and investment cooperation in the city,especially in fields of Kagoshima’s strength like tourism and agriculture.
 
The Japanese prefecture is willing to support and share experience in theapplication of information technology and advanced technology in agriculturalproduction, he said, adding that his locality will receive Vietnameseapprentices in seafood processing.

Also, Kagoshima wants to coordinate with Ho Chi Minh City in organisingexchange programmes to enhance mutual understanding, solidarity and cooperationbetween the two localities.-VNA
