HCM City, Kyushu firms seek cooperation chances

Over 40 firms from the Japanese prefecture of Kyushu met their Vietnamese partners at a seminar in Ho Chi Minh City on September 17 to seek business chances.

Participants at the event, co-hosted by the VCCI and the Junior Chamber International of Japan, shared experience and explored possibilities of cooperation in information technology, food, engineering, ceramics, construction and education.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh City chapter of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vo Tan Thanh noted a wave of Japanese investment in Vietnam , especially projects by small- and medium-sized enterprises.

Japan is now the biggest investor in Vietnam with over 2,000 projects worth nearly 33 billion USD as of August 2013.

The Kyushu authorities are developing industries of their strong points such as construction, tourism, processing industry, electronics and automobile, said the representative of the Japanese side.-VNA
