Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s CommitteePhan Van Mai received Argentinian Ambassador to Vietnam Luis Pablo MariaBeltramino on April 13, during the host highlighted the trade ties between thecity and Argentina.

Bilateral trade reached 147.6 million USD in 2021, a year-on-year increase of 5percent, despite COVID-19, Mai said.

During the reception, the city leader spoke highly of Argentina’s efforts tofight COVID-19, and said that during the COVID-19 fight, the southern city learnedexperience of many countries, including Argentina.

He said he hopes that the embassy coordinates with the city to propose cooperationactivities in the near future, especially on the occasion of the 50thanniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the twocountries in 2023.

Ambassador Beltramino highlighted the fruitful development of cooperationbetween Argentina and Vietnam in the past years, especially in the fields ofpolitics, trade and technology.

He said that Argentina continues to consider Vietnam the main trading partnerin Asia and the embassy will deploy numerous cooperation programmes with Ho ChiMinh City, particularly in 2023.

Currently, Vietnam is Argentina's fifth largest trading partner./.
