HCM City(VNA) – A delegation of leaders of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, People’sCouncil, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee on April 27 paidtribute to martyrs at the city cemetery for heroic martyrs on the occasion ofthe National Reunification Day (April 30) and May Day (May 1).

The delegation, led bySecretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen, spent a minute ofsilence in memory of the heroic martyrs who laid down their lives for theindependence and freedom of the Fatherland and happiness of the people.

They laid flowers andlightened incense in each grave to commemorate the martyrs.

After that, the cityleaders paid tribute to late leaders of the city in different period andrevolutionaries who made outstanding contributions to the national constructionand defence at the municipal cemetery in Thu Duc city.

Also on April 27, theyoffered flowers to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh Museum’sbranch in the city and the President Ho Chi Minh Monument Park in District 1.

The same day, thedelegation also offered incense to martyrs at Ben Duoc Martyrs’ Monument in CuChi district, in which 45,693 martyrs who died during the war against Franceand the US are being commemorated.

The delegation also commemoratedmartyrs at local martyr cemeteries, as well as Heroic Vietnamese Mother andHero of the People’s Armed Forces Nguyen Thi Ranh at her monument in Cu Chi./.

According to the document, at around 13:00 on July 11, an especially serious waterway traffic accident occurred about 200 metres off Hon May Rut Ngoai Island. Passenger canoe AG-26751, carrying 32 Indian tourists and three crew members, capsized while travelling from Hon May Rut Ngoai Island to An Thoi Port, claiming 15 lives as of 15:00 the same day.

Search and rescue underway after tourist speedboat capsizes off Phu Quoc

According to the local authorities, the canoe operated by Ocean Pearl Island Company was transporting 32 Indian tourists and three crew members, including one captain, one mechanic, and one staff member, capsized while en route from May Rut Ngoai Island to An Thoi Port amid strong wave and wind condition. As a result, by 15:00 on July 11, the accident had claimed 15 lives.

The work, which began on July 9, is being carried out by military and medical personnel following strict technical procedures. The process includes exhumation, biological sample collection, sealing and preservation of samples, documentation, and digitalisation of all relevant information. Military women support nearly 1,000 orphaned children through "Adoptive Mother" programme

500-day campaign receives war memorabilia, martyr records

The donated materials include files on three martyrs’ personal belongings, burial records and maps identifying the graves of 21 martyrs at K76A Hospital, and decoded documents relating to Unit 962, linked to artefacts unearthed during excavation work at Le Thi Rieng Park in Hoa Hung ward.

Man jailed for smashing Nguyen Dynasty throne armrest

According to the indictment, Tam bought an admission ticket to the citadel around noon on May 24, 2025. Once inside Thai Hoa Palace, he climbed over a protective barrier, sat on the "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", and broke off the front-left armrest before striking the artifact further and shattering the broken section into multiple pieces.

Nearly 700 administrative procedures abolished

By the end of May this year, localities across had implemented simplification measures for 411 administrative procedures, including abolishing 86 processes, amending or supplementing 111 and retaining 214, contributing to improved efficiency of the State administrative apparatus as well as helping citizens and businesses.

Over 100 overseas Vietnamese youth to join Vietnam Summer Camp 2026

The programme will introduce delegates to Vietnam's rich cultural heritage, including UNESCO-recognised sites such as the Complex of Hue Monuments, My Son Sanctuary, Hoi An Ancient Town and Hue Royal Court Music. It combines heritage tours with history lessons, cultural experiences and Vietnamese language activities to strengthen participants' understanding of their roots and foster national pride.
