HCM City (VNA) – The 10th Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council adopted several resolutions with key pieces of content during its 10th session on October 8.
The resolutions feature projects and programmes to realise the National Assembly’s Resolution No.54 on piloting special mechanisms and policies for the city’s development, including the construction of a symphony, opera, and ballet theatre at a total cost of over 1.5 trillion VND (65.2 million USD) from the local State budget.
Scheduled for construction from 2018 to 2022 in District 2’s Thu Thiem new urban area, the theatre will accommodate 1,700 seats.
The council also approved a resolution on State budget support for the implementation of a programme on milk supply for kindergarten and elementary school children for the 2018-2020 period, thus improving their nutrition and height.
Accordingly, 30 percent of the programme’s costs will be covered by the local State budget, 20 percent by milk suppliers, and 50 percent by parents and carers.
For poor and low-income households, and for children living in social sponsor centres, the city’s State budget and milk suppliers will incur their half of the costs.
Delegates also ratified resolutions on investment stimulation in the local support industry, as well as decisions on decentralisation and the auction of assets on land with transfer of rights to land use in the city.
Concluding the event, Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Quyet Tam asked the municipal People’s Committee to direct departments and agencies towards completing reports to submit to the council for their year-end meeting.
They were also urged to bring Resolution No.54 into life towards boosting economic growth and improving local lives, while also strengthening inspection to honour good examples and promptly fix shortcomings in the effort. –VNA
