Ho Chi Minh City authorities have recently released 205,000 fish into two canals that have recently recovered from serious pollution.
The release of fish into Nhieu Loc-Thi Nghe and Tau Hu-Ben Nghe canals is seen as part of activities to welcome World Environment Day (June 5).
These fish included carps, tilapia, catfish and anabas.
Speaking at the event, Hua Ngoc Thuan, Deputy Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee, said that the release is aimed at the re-generation of fisheries in the canals.
He also called on local residents to take part in activities to re-create the fisheries and protect the water sources and the environment of the city.-VNA
