HCM City (VNA) - The Vietnam Social Security’s chapter in Ho Chi Minh City aims to increase social insurance coverage to 54 percent of the local workforce, equivalent to more than 2.5 million people in 2019.
According to Director of the agency Phan Van Men, unemployment coverage is expected to expand to 52 percent of the workforce, or 2.35 million, this year.
The number of those joining health insurance is expected to exceed 7.6 million, equivalent to 89 percent of the city’s population.
The municipal insurance agency aims to collect some 66 trillion VND (over 2.8 billion USD) of social, health and unemployment insurance premiums in the year, up 10 percent against the figure of 2018.
The agency also strives to kept an insurance debt rate below 1.85 percent.
Men stressed that the agency has been making every effort to increase the number of those participating in social and health insurance, especially workers in newly established firms.
Attention has been also paid to inspecting the implementation of regulations on social, health and unemployment insurance, and recommending agencies to strictly handle violations, he added. -VNA
