HCM City trials digital signboards at bus stops

Digital signboards displaying bus numbers, arrival time and remaining distance have been installed on a trial basis at two Ho Chi Minh City’s bus stops on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and An Duong Vuong Street.

HCM City (VNA) - Digital signboards displaying bus numbers, arrivaltime and remaining distance have been installed on a trial basis at two Ho Chi MinhCity’s bus stops on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai Street and An Duong Vuong Street.

They are the first of their kind in Vietnam.

According to the Department of Transport’s Management andOperation Centre for Public Transport, if the month-long trial is successful,more of the signs would be installed throughout the city.

The department is also considering simplifying the route maps atbus stops, only listing buses passing through the particular stop instead ofthe entire city route map.

Bus stops are set to be remodelled with wheelchair ramps andhandles to make them more accessible to disabled people.-VNA

Ahn Byung Chan, a former reporter for the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Hankook Ilbo newspaper was the last Korean journalist to leave Sai Gon (now Ho Chi Minh City) on the early morning of April 30, 1975 on the flight that he believed the last one from the US Embassy's building rooftop on April 30.
