Participants at the meeting. (Photo: VNA) HCM City (VNA) - ThePeople’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the US Consulate General in the cityon November 15 held a meeting to promote their cooperation in smart urbandevelopment.
Speaking at the event, ViceChairman of the municipal People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said that Vietnam – USrelations are developing strongly in many fields, especially after the twocountries upgraded their relationship to a comprehensive strategic partnership.Meanwhile, HCM City has established friendship and cooperativerelations with San Francisco and New York city and wishes to further promotecooperation with other US localities.
Hoan said that digitaltransformation, smart urban development, and green and sustainable growth are notonly the city's desires but also the world's trends and they requires specificactions of the government, businesses and people.
The city highly appreciates UStechnology enterprises that have been investing and doing business in Vietnam,particularly those that have supported the city in implementing its smart urbandevelopment programme.
He emphasised that in the comingtime, more coordination and cooperation are needed between US partners, technologyenterprises and the city to exchange information and seek cooperationopportunities.
For her part, US Consul General inHCM City Susan Burns said that the two countries agreed to promotecoordination in finding directions to expand the bilateral relations in fields,particularly economic development and innovation.
At the meeting, representatives ofthe city’s departments and agencies reported the results of the implementationof the cooperation programmes between the city and the US through the United StatesTrade and Development Agency (USTDA)’s projects. They also presented the city’sorientations in developing smart urban areas.
Representatives from the USTAD andUS enterprises introduced their advantages and strengths, affirming their desires to support and cooperate with the city in developing smart urbanareas./.
