Heart disease accounts for 30 percent of total deaths caused by non-transmitted diseases in Vietnam, according to recently published statistics.

The Vietnam National Congress of Interventional Cardiology has recently held by the Health Ministry and Interventional Cardiology Association Branch in Hanoi.

Cardiovascular disease and cancer are among the major causes of adolescent deaths in the country. The congress said that many of the deaths were attributed to a lack of timely intervention.-VNA

Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan acknowledged Vietnam’s remarkable progress in TB control but emphasised that the country remains among the 30 nations with the highest TB and multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) burden worldwide. In 2024 alone, more than 113,600 TB cases were detected, including nearly 4,000 cases of MDR-TB.
