Helmet wearing among children reaches 70 percent

The rate of helmet wearing among children reached 70 percent in 63 cities and provinces nationwide during the 2019-2020 school year, according to a survey conducted in January.

Hanoi (VNA) – The rate of helmet wearing among childrenreached 70 percent in 63 cities and provinces nationwide during the 2019-2020school year, according to a survey conducted in January.

The rate was up 4 percent from the target of the “Giu tronuoc mo” (Keeping dreams) programme and up 18 percent from 2018.

Under the programme, the National Traffic Safety Committeein collaboration with the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MoET)and the Honda Vietnam company conducted surveys, produced and sent helmets tomore than 15,000 elementary schools across the country during the school year.

As a result, over 1.96 million first-grade pupils receivedthem,

From September – November 2019, the MoET directed elementaryschools nationwide to incorporate helmet wearing instructions into curriculaand traffic safety sessions launched by Honda Vietnam.

On the occasion, Honda Vietnam also granted 20,000 helmetsto pupils under its annual programme launched since 2015.

The Prime Minister’s Directive No.04/CT-TTg set the goal ofraising the rate of helmet wearing among children to 80 percent by 2020./.

Hanoi puts 28 more electric buses into operation

The new VinFast Green Bus vehicles, manufactured in 2026, have a capacity of 60 passengers. They are equipped with low floors for easier boarding, facilities for people with disabilities, air conditioning and other modern amenities to improve passengers’ comfort and travel experience.

500-day campaign brings fallen soldiers closer to home

Information provided by local residents in Son La province helped authorities find the remains of two fallen soldiers after four days of searching. At Le Thi Rieng Park in Ho Chi Minh City, 701 sets of remains and 304 sets of personal items have been recovered, while in Ca Mau province, more than 3,000 unidentified graves have been excavated and biological samples collected.
