Help to overseas Vietnamese flood victims in Cambodia

Representatives of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia and the Association of Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) in Cambodia on Oct. 7-8 donated rice and foodstuff to 132 OV flood victims in the Cambodian northeastern province of Kratie.

Earlier, they also delivered gifts to flood-hit OVs affected by floods in Phnom Penh and Kandal province.

According to the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Kratie province,200 out of 500 local OV households were seriously affected by theflooding.

The Association of Overseas Vietnamese inCambodia said that over 12,000 OV households were also severely hit,including 7,000 in Kandal province and nearly 2,000 in Pray Vengprovince.

According to the Cambodian National Committeefor Disaster Management, the floods have hit 213,000 families andclaimed 167 lives./.

Rare green sea turtle released back into the wild in Quang Tri

The green sea turtle (Chelonia mydas), locally known as vich, is a rare and protected species under Vietnamese law. It is also listed by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a species of conservation concern and is included in the appendices of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
