One thousand Vietnamese heroic mothers, Heroes of the Armed Forces andLabour Heroes from the south gathered in Hanoi on Oct. 8 for the “ThangLong-the nation’s sacred soul” programme, which aimed to herald thecapital city’s 1,000 th founding anniversary.
Present at the event, Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh said
“thepresence today of heroic mothers and heroes is a fine symbol ofVietnamese generations born in the Ho Chi Minh era – those who bear anoble soul with iron will,” said Manh.
He noted, “they belong togenerations who developed national patriotism from an individual lovefor the country, which contributed to the national liberation cause aswell as revolutionary heroism.”
Manh said Thang Long-Hanoicelebrations were a proud moment for Vietnamese people, both at home andoverseas, and were of over-riding political and social importance thatintensified the nation’s profound humanity.
On the occasion, theparty chief expressed his gratitude to the beloved President Ho ChiMinh, who is the national liberation hero and great man of culture.
Heaffirmed, “we will keep in our hearts forever the services rendered byheroes, war fallen combatants and emeritus people who had devoted theirtalent, brainpower, and even their life to the country’s independenceand freedom and the people’s happiness.”./.
