A high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam People’s Army headed by Lieut. Gen. Do Ba Ty, Chief of General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, is on a working visit to Laos from Aug. 15-18.
On Aug. 15, the Vietnamese delegation was received by Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong and Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Douangchay Phichit.
Lieut. Gen. Ty informed the hosts about the results of talks with a delegation of the Lao Defence Ministry and affirmed that the entire Party, people and army of Vietnam will try their best together with the Lao army to further boost the special friendship, solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Lao leaders hailed the visit by the Vietnamese high-ranking military delegation and praised cooperation between the two armies’ general staff in building clusters of hamlets in Laos , which effectively helped improve living conditions of local people.
They stated that the Lao Party, State and people are grateful for the effective and fair-minded assistance from the Vietnamese Party, State, army and people during the past war and at present.
The two sides agreed to coordinate to build the Vietnam-Laos border into the border of peace, friendship and stability and boost exchange of information, experiences and cooperation in training and in developing clusters of hamlets to improve people’s living conditions./.
