Highland teachers and students overcome flooding to pursue education

In Hoa Binh province, Typhoon Yagi and its aftermath have heavily impacted several sectors, including education. The education sector is actively working to address the storm's damage. In the mountainous district of Da Bac, local authorities and residents are united in overcoming the floods to ensure that teachers and students can quickly resume their educational activities.

In the northern mountainous province of Hoa Binh, Da Bac district was one of the areas hardest hit by Typhoon Yagi.

Starting at 2PM on September 13, 30 households with 126 residents from Rang village in Cao Son commune were urgently evacuated due to the risk of landslides. Consequently, two schools, one preschool and one elementary school, in Rang village were temporarily closed.

The closure occurred just a week before the new school year began, putting students at risk of prolonged absences from school.

In response, the local authorities promptly arranged for students to attend classes at Son Phu School, located nearly 10 kilometers from Rang Village.

The students have been accommodated at the main school and are receiving boarding services. The Women's Union of Son Phu Village volunteered to prepare lunch for the students during their time away from home.

Da Bac district has plans to allocate land and housing for families affected by the flood. It will also establish new, safer schools for the students of Cao Son commune to continue their education in this academic year./.
