The Party Central Committee’s Commission for Popularisation and Education and relevant agencies launched a history contest on the Vietnam – Laos , Laos – Vietnam special relations, in Hanoi on Apr. 12.
As part of activities to mark Vietnam - Laos Friendship and Solidarity Year 2012, the 50 th anniversary of diplomatic ties and the 35 th anniversary of the signing of Friendship and Cooperation Treaty, the event is a chance to raise the awareness of younger generations about the bilateral friendship, contributing to fostering sentiments between the two nations.
Entries are required to feature the two countries’ close relations during wartime and the current national construction cause, the role played by Presidents Ho Chi Minh, Kaysone Phomvihane and Souphanouvong and other high-ranking leaders in fostering bilateral ties.
The award ceremony will take place in the Lao province of Savannakhet which boasts a number of popular historic sites from the anti-colonialist and anti-imperialist resistance war under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.-VNA
