Ho Chi Minh City’s CPI drops slightly

Ho Chi Minh City’s January consumer price index (CPI) inched down 0.48 percent from last month as a result of recent reductions in petrol, oil and gas prices.

Annually, these figures mark a rise of 0.76 percent.

During the month, transportation recorded the steepest decrease of 4.8 percent; followed by housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials (1.5 percent), post and telecommunication (0.16 percent), and household utensils (0.03 percent).

Price increases were seen in goods and services (0.92 percent), beverages and tobacco (0.22 percent), restaurant services (0.20 percent), apparel and footwear (0.19 percent), and culture and entertainment (0.10 percent).-VNA
