The section of Ho Chi Minh Highway running from the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum to Binh Phuoc province technically opened to traffic on June 26, one year and a half ahead of schedule.
The 553km-long project from Tan Canh commune in Dak To district in Kon Tum to Chon Thanh town in Binh Phuoc was launched in 2012 with a total investment of 19 trillion VND (871 million USD), 13 trillion VND of which came from government bonds.
A 208km section of the project was executed under the form of BOT (Build-Operation-Transfer) with an investment capital of 6 trillion VND.
The road has two lanes allowing vehicles travelling at a maximum speed of 80 kph in rural areas and 60 kph in resident areas.
The road is expected to facilitate the social-economic development as well as ensuring security and defence in the region.-VNA
