The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s Vinh Long Chapter on June 14 held a get-together in Vinh Long province to celebrate the 72nd anniversary of the Hoa Hao Buddhist sect (May 18).
The event drew over 50 representatives from the sect’s Executive Committees at different levels in the Mekong Delta province.
Seventy-two years ago, prophet Huynh Phu So, a native of Hoa Hao village, Tan Chau district, Chau Doc province (now Phu My town, Phu Tan district, An Giang province), founded the Hoa Hao Buddhism, which advocates the practice of Buddhism at home.
At the ceremony, provincial leaders praised charitable activities performed by dignitaries and followers to help the poor.
They called on them to continue to hold on such activities and unite with people nationwide in a journey with the nation./.
